Chime is a mobile bank with one goal: to make banking better for everyone. From arborists in trees, to world-famous MCs, and anyone who hates fees. So yeah, everyone.
They came to us right before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, asking us to help create a brand spot that was less product-heavy than their previous work, while still informing potential customers of what makes Chime a great place to bank; animation seemed the best course of action.
Chime had just revamped their brand guidelines and this was a great opportunity to stress test it, as well as work with their internal team to build out more complex extensions and evolutions for new use cases. Working together with Chime and Scholar, the result was more than 25 original characters (all with fun backstories of their own) living in a colorful and quick-moving world that married the simplicity of their existing brand identity with the ability to tell bigger stories in different mediums.
The resulting video was their most successful and engaging piece of advertising to date—besting previous work in Brand Awareness, Brand Recall, and virtually every internal metric the spot was measured against.
